NITE at the PUPPET ASYLUM

Strings & Things Puppet Theatre is hosting
a Nite at the Puppet Asylum at the Muck.

Join us for an extraordinary evening of live puppetry designed for an Adult Audience on February 21st.  The Muck Gallery will transform into a puppet emporium teeming with talented puppet artists from Los Angeles, San Diego, and Boston featuring an assortment of live & video short- form performances.

The evening’s bi- coastal puppet carte du jour is assure to deliver hilarious moments of mayhem with feats from Sword Swallowing Ventriloquist, Dave Markham, (Los Angeles) and exploits from (Boston) Pam Severns’s “Ben & Eric” series of a big guy/little guy duo adventure.

Los Angeles puppeteer, Leslie K. Gray brings Change the World, an overhead projector shadow puppet piece set to music with an environmental theme, and Full Potential to the stage.

Puppeteer, Judith O’Hare (Boston) performs with artist Augusta Agustusson’s eloquently designed puppets in their toy theater rendition of Oscar Wilde’s “The Birthday of the Infanta.”

Mindy Donner (San Diego) presents a new shadow piece; an excerpt from a prologue written for “Matinee with Miss Peg” (Play-in-progress). Also, the amazing Animal Cracker Conspiracy, a.k.a. Bridget Rountree & Iain Gunn (San Diego), masters of street theater and spectacle performs a new piece called “Breakfast with Joseph Beuys”.

In addition to these live puppet offerings, screenings of puppet videos will be shown, including (Los Angeles) Robyn Simms as The Countess, and (Los Angeles) Julie Philips’s Heartstrings, a short film which pays tribute to Los Angeles puppeteer Steve Meltzer.

But wait…there’s more!! Audiences are invited to BYO puppets or craft simple puppets to take home and/or perform with on our Pinocchio-Oke-Karaoke stage! Materials provided.

Join us for fun-filled Nite at the Puppet Asylum!
