Nite at the Puppet Asylum brings the phenomenon of adult puppetry to the community with an extraordinary evening of puppetry mayhem, fueled by talented puppet artists and performers whose works range from hilarious and/or evocative to experimental or accomplished with inventive, absurdly funny and wicked acts of puppetry that are independently produced for adult audiences.

Strings & Things Puppet Theatre presents Ordinary Objects, a unique performance of absurd theater using the anthropomorphic nature of innate objects and puppetry in creating a series of vignettes depicting ideas expressed by the surrealist, Rene Magritte. Drawing on humorous and bawdy comic clichés, puns, and dislocated repetitions with an underlying message of metaphysical distress in paying tribute to filmmakers, surrealists, existentialists who extrapolate meaning from the world of object theatre.
Ordinary Objects pays tribute to filmmakers, surrealists, existentialists who extrapolate meaning from the world of object theatre by creating a puppet theater performance that transforms the artists works through miniatures & objects, projections, shadow puppetry and toy theater techniques in crafting an captivating experience for an adult puppet-theater audience.

All puppet types are welcomed!! We encourage artists, designers, musicians, students and yes, puppeteers to participate! The Seal Maiden is a folktale with origins in Celtic mythology – a time when Selkies, mythical seal creatures, were able to transform themselves into human beauties. It is a universal story, about the seasons within the life of a soul; youth, maturity and old age, with a deep understanding of the cyclical nature within.
